Somerville is located just north of Boston and is the 17th most densely populated city in the country. Somerville was established as a town in 1842, after its official separation from Charlestown. In 2006, the town of Somerville was named the best run city in Massachusetts by The Boston Globe. In 2009, Somerville received the All-America City Award.
